Mulan(2020), A Disney Chinese Folklore Movie
Before Watching Mulan, Here Is The Folklore Behind It
Loyal, Brave and True -- The Mulan Folklore
Mulan lives in the Northern Wei Dynasty. She loves martial arts and learns from her father who was once a soldier. She knows everything a soldier needs to know, horse-riding, archery, knives. However, females are not allowed in army recruitment.
After years of peace, the Rouran starts to invade Northern Wei. The emperor enforces army recruitment in which each family has to send a man to the battlefield. Mulan's brother is still young and her father is too old. To protect and show loyalty to her family and the country, she takes her father's sword and reports to the army on behalf of her father. Of course, she does not tell anyone that she is female.
Wars is a nightmare for everyone. Mulan witnesses the blood, the body and the slaughtering. She is not afraid, she is born brave.
After years of military life, she returns to her country triumphantly. The emperor wants to award her for her bravery and courage. However, she refuses. She cares about the power and wealth less than her family. She returns home to look after her parents in the end.
Mulan 1998
The movie Mulan was scheduled to be released months ago but it is postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, it is going to be in-cinema soon. Do you know that it is not the very first Mulan movie filmed by Disney? Actually, there was an animated cartoon Mulan in 1998 and it is one of the Disney classics. To be honest, I have watched 1998 Mulan several times when I was a kid, it is my favourite cartoon. Before going into the cinema, probably you may want to know how Mulan 1998 looks like. I found this "Mulan in 13 mins" on Youtube.
